Background
The Indian Army required a robust solution for the efficient and
precise laying of anti-tank munitions to safeguard national borders. The Munition
Laying System (MML-SP) was developed to meet this critical need, automating the
process and ensuring reliability in varied terrains and extreme conditions.

To develop and implement an automated system for laying anti-tank
munitions with high precision, capable of operating in diverse and challenging
environments.
Our Approach and Solution
Understand
We engaged with defence experts to fully comprehend the operational
requirements and environmental challenges. The focus was on automating the laying
process to enhance precision, reduce manual labour, and ensure reliable operation
in various terrains.
Build
We designed and developed a comprehensive solution, integrating:
- Electrical and Electronic Subsystems: Including Alternator, Power Distribution Unit (PDU), Servo Motors, UPS, Junction Boxes, Maintenance Panel, Drive Panel, Electronic Controller, and DGNSS/INS system.
- Electronic Control System (ECS): Featuring rugged controllers, HMI panels, and over 40 harnessed cables, ensuring compliance with JSS- 55555 and MIL-STD-461E/F standards.
- Automated Munition Laying Mechanism: Incorporating a trencher assembly, camouflaging system, and precise depth control to ensure accurate munition placement.
Deliver
We successfully integrated and tested the system on multi-axel army
vehicles across various terrains and extreme weather conditions. The ruggedized units met MIL JSS55555 standards, ensuring durability and reliability. Our team
provided continuous support during testing and deployment phases.
Value Delivered
- Captured Accurate Data: The system recorded the location of laid munitions with an accuracy of 50 cm using onboard DGNSS/INS, ensuring precise placement and documentation.
- Seamless Integration: The ECS facilitated real-time monitoring and control, automating the entire process from trenching to camouflaging, and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Championing Success: The solution played a crucial role in national defence by improving the speed, accuracy, and safety of munition laying operations, contributing to the protection of India's borders.
